Trash was once desirable and useful.

With the transformative nature of time, the discarded object becomes precious again. Mindfully employing techniques that reinforce time and discovery in the making process of collecting, arranging, layering and embedding, speaks to the labours that go into something that is quickly consumed and forgotten.

The invitation for this show came around the same time as the archaeological discovery of a hot food market stall in Pompeii, complete with well preserved handpainted tiles depicting chickens (and sea nymphs). A place for consumption buried deep for 2,000 years, layered under molten rock. This abstract re-imagining of the humble chicken shop weaves together refuse to remember underneath the layers.
